He compared the isolation he felt during that time with that of seafarers, who spend many months at sea unable to communicate with their families or and loved ones.The Sailors’ Society secured their appeal, like other charities, through applying to the BBC. The BBC’s UK-wide broadcast appeals are made weekly on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday mornings and evenings and monthly on BBC One on Lifeline.
