A fourth female injured in the shooting was not named.Police said in a news release Thursday that Madrey “is a previously self-admitted gang member.”Det. Lt. Kevin Beyer, chief of Suffolk police’s Homicide Squad, said in a phone interview that Madrey had previously been affiliated with an off-shoot of the Bloods gang. Investigators would be digging into the past of all the victims, he added.“We’re not narrowing it to anything,” Beyer said. “There’s the potential it’s a gang incident.”Family members of one of the victims disputed police accounts that Madrey was once a gang member, according to Newsday. The fatal shooting occurred just before midnight on Davidson Street, police said. It appeared that the shooter walked up to the vehicle and fired multiple shots. All four victims were sitting inside the SUV at the time of the shooting, Beyer said.First Precinct officers responded to 911 calls reporting gunfire and found the four shooting victims in the SUV. Madrey, Rivera, and Smith were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The surviving victim’s gunshot wounds were not considered life threatening, according to police.Beyer did not know how many shots had been fired but he did say that autopsies and an analysis of the SUV would help determine the total. As for the suspect, Beyer said investigators have yet to identify who was involved.“Right now the information we have: it’s a male,” the homicide chief added.Police are currently working under the suspicion that only one suspect was involved in the slayings.Police are asking anyone with information about the homicides to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the shooter.
Mauricio Pochettino has urged his players to learn from the experience of playing against Chelsea, having collapsed to hand the Premier League trophy to Leicester City. The Lilywhites were leading 2-0 at half-time, a result which would have kept the title race ongoing for at least another week. However, Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard netted second half goals, drawing the tie level, and sending silverware to the King Power Stadium.Pochettino’s team, who have looked so good for much of the season, seemed to let the occasion get to them, and the head coach wants his players to learn from this sort of game.He said: “It was difficult because we were very emotional and they were emotional. It was a tough game. This was the feeling that was important for us to learn. We are the youngest squad in the Premier League, and it’s important for the future. We can only learn from that.”Despite losing out on the title, Pochettino insists the North London outfit should still be proud of what they have achieved this year, having exceeded all pre-season expectations. The Argentine added: “We still need to feel proud for our season, as we still fight for second place. We need to prepare for the next game.”The head coach also had words of praise for his Leicester counterpart Claudio Ranieri, who has led the Foxes to their first ever top flight trophy.“First off I want to congratulate Claudio Ranieri and Leicester on their title. They deserve it, but we do feel disappointed.”

England players celebrate after winning the 5th Test and the series 3-1 against IndiaEngland’s bowlers destroyed India’s batting order once again, dismissing the tourists for 94 to seal a 3-1 series victory on day three of the fifth test at the Oval on Sunday.Statistical Highlights Chris Jordan and James Anderson spearheaded England’s attack as the hosts thrashed India by an innings and 244 runs.India resumed the second session on 9-2 and 50 minutes later than scheduled due to a rain delay.Cheteshwar Pujara edged Anderson behind to Jos Buttler for 11, adding to his earlier lbw wicket of Murali Vijay before the interval.A brilliant catch from Gary Ballance, diving across from third slip to grasp a thin low edge with one hand, saw Ajinkya Rahane (4) fall to Stuart Broad, before Chris Woakes removed India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for a duck. Woakes had earlier run out Gautam Gambhir from mid-on.Jordan was then introduced into the bowling attack and propelled England to victory. He dismissed Virat Kohli (20) with a delivery that swung late and got a nick to England captain Alastair Cook at first slip. Ravichandran Ashwin (7) followed with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4), both catches taken by Ian Bell.Varun Aaron was then run out when Moeen Ali and Buttler combined before Jordan’s bouncer could only be fended skywards by Ishant Sharma and Ali was underneath to take the catch and seal victory for England.Joe Root started the day by making an unbeaten 149 as England added 101 runs in 11.3 overs as it was bowled out for a commanding 486, a score that India could not get close to in two innings.advertisementThe series victory completes a remarkable turnaround for England, which trailed the series 1-0 after defeat in the second test at Lord’s amid questions about Cook’s future as a batsman and captain. For India, it is the second time in as many tests it has been beaten in three days.
zoom Norway-based dry bulk shipping company Golden Ocean Group Limited (GOGL) has reached and agreement to purchase two modern Capesize vessels from affiliates of Hemen Holding Limited. The ships would be bought from the company, indirectely controlled by trusts established by John Fredriksen, at a price of USD 43 million per unit.“We are pleased to be in the position to acquire high quality, modern Capesize vessels that are expected to generate free cash flow immediately upon delivery. This transaction is consistent with our strategy of focusing our commercial efforts on the vessel segments that we believe will provide the greatest leverage to a recovery in the dry bulk shipping market,” Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal, CEO of Golden Ocean Management AS, said.As settlement of the purchase price for the ships, Golden Ocean will enter into a non-amortizing seller’s credit loan with an affiliate of Hemen for 50% of the purchase price, which bears interest at LIBOR + 3.00% per annum and matures three years after delivery of the vessels.GOGL informed that the remaining part of the purchase price will be settled on delivery of the vessels with an estimated USD 9 million of cash and an estimated USD 34 million of newly-issued common shares of the company at a per-share price equal to the offer price in an expected equity offering. The Capesizes are expected to be delivered within four months of the date hereof, Golden Ocean said, adding that the completion of the transaction is subject to completion of an equity offering and entry into the seller’s credit loan.Once the acquisition and expected equity offering is finalized, Hemen, together with certain of its affiliates, will maintain its current ownership percentage of around 34.2% of GOGL’s issued and outstanding common shares.Furthermore, as Golden Ocean’s financial position has been enhanced over the past 12 months, the company intends to terminate the covenant waivers related to its recourse debt upon completion of the expected equity offering, Ringstad Vartdal informed.“This will reinstate the normal covenants, which the company is now in compliance with, and remove the company’s restrictions on new acquisitions, new debt and dividend payments. The waiver structure in the non-recourse debt related to the transactions announced in March 2017 will remain,” Ringstad Vartdal said.
